CPD online aims to produce a high-quality, interactive
learning experience using a range of multimedia techniques and
linking to other more traditional resources such as journal
articles, external websites and college events.
The modules have been developed on the basis that people have
different learning styles. They offer a range of approaches
(sound, animation and video) in order to meet your learning needs
and enhance your learning experience.
We have trialled a range of pilot modules, encouraging
debate and challenging ourselves to develop interesting and
relevant course material. We have been delighted to confirm from
the feedback we received that multimedia techniques can enhance
learning in a variety of ways, changing people’s attitudes and
opinions about topics as well as supporting the acquisition of
knowledge and skills. Interactivity is a key component of good
e-learning material. Reflective learning opportunities
and tests are incorporated into the modules to keep users
engaged with the content provided.
Finally, we aim to produce a high quality resource that
reflects best practice in psychiatry today. Though anyone with the
requisite technical expertise can put material onto the web, that
is in itself no guarantee of educational quality. All of our
work goes through a peer review process where, once submitted, an
expert in the field reviews it. Only when both the reviewer
and the College's Publications Department approve the work, is it
then published on the live site.
We also ask authors to review and update their
work regularly. This ensures that we produce quality content,
which is relevant for fully qualified psychiatrists and mental
health professionals.
