Assessment of eating disorders in children and young people

by Dr Agnes Ayton, Dr Dasha Nicholls and Dr Anne Stewart

Assessment of eating disorders in children and young peopleThis module will consider the assessment of eating disorders in children and young people, highlighting aspects of care that differ from that of adults.

Assessment is an ongoing process throughout the period of care, not simply at the time of presentation.

The emphasis is on systemic and developmental approaches, addressing both psychological and physical aspects, and considering issues of confidentiality and consent.

The module will use a case scenario to illustrate different aspects of assessment.
