Learning outcomes
This module aims to provide you with:
- an overview of the context in which the Mental Health Act
2001 was developed and introduced;
- an understanding of mental disorder and mental illness as
defined by the Mental Health Act 2001;
- a knowledge of the process of involuntary detention as set down
in the Mental health Act 2001;
- a knowledge of the role of the Mental Health Commission
and Mental health Tribunals as set down in the Mental Health Act
2001;
- an understanding of consent to treatment as set down in the
Mental Health Act 2001.
