January 2010: Confectionary consumption in childhood and aggression in later life

There is increasing interest and public concern about the relationship between diet and physical health. There has been less focus on the relationship between diet and behaviour and mental health. Despite this, there is some evidence of a relationship between breast feeding and cognitive development, which may be genetically mediated (Caspi et al 2007) and between hyperactivity and diet (Schab and Trin, 2004). In this podcast, Dr Margaret Murphy talks to Dr Simon Moore about the present study (Moore et al, 2009) which uses a longitudinal design to explore the relationship between confectionary consumption in childhood and adult aggression.
